I’ve been shooting a registered league at Scorched Earth Gun Club in Kenna. I wanted to bring attention to this club as they’re quickly becoming a major thrower of ATA registered targets in WV. In their first year of operation the club registered 28,450 targets with the ATA. Last year the club came close to doubling the previous year’s total by registering an amazing 53,600 targets. The three principals of the Scorched Earth Gun Club competed in their first WV State Shoot this year. Pete Landfried, Mikel Boone and Randy Jones made the trip to Winchester Gun Club for the 102nd West Virginia State Shoot this year. They all have been honing their skills, as former pistol competitors they knew that the only way to see how they were progressing was to test their skills in competition against the best at what the State Shoot had to offer. Randy and Pete both trophied in separate Handicap events, Mikel broke 194 in the Championship singles and was high in class until some higher scores came in late . All in all a good first outing result. Their focus has been mainly on singles and handicap however double barrels have been seen popping up lately.
