2018 WV State Shoot To Be Contested at Winchester Gun Club

The 98th West Virginia State Shoot will be held July 12th through the 15th at Winchester Gun Club in Stephenson, VA.  The Winchester Gun Club encompasses just under 100 acres and has 14 traps making it the largest Trap shooting facility in the state of Virginia. All 14 traps are equipped with Pat Traps and Automatic voice Release. The Winchester Gun Club holds at least 8 to 10 registered shoots per year plus it hosts the VA State Shoot, the WV State Shoot, the VA Hall of Fame Shoot and the Grand Old Dominion Shoot. The Club House is air conditioned and has a full service kitchen, 66 camper hook ups,and a picture perfect background.


The WV State Shoot consists of 1000 targets thrown over four days and provides over 200 trophies and over $6000.00 in Added Money. A program can be downloaded here. Those that come for the VA State Shoot the week before and stay for the WV State Shoot there will be a special event hosted by the Winchester Gun Club. This event will consist of 75 targets. 25 from 16 yards, 25 from 23 yards, and 25 from 25 yards. Fees for this event will be $27.00 the fees include the cost of the targets, 15 shots practice (one shot from each post of the three different yardages), and a Lewis class. After practice is completed for each squad the shooters will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. These moneys will be divided among the top three highest scores 50%-30%-20%. There is also a Lewis class. A white "money" bird will be thrown at 27 yards the amount will depend on how many shooters and how many are hit. Sign up begins @ 2PM.
