Sandy Spencer Wins The Grand American Handicap Lady II Championship

 The eight time WV Lady's Singles Champion Sandra Spencer has added the 2014 Grand American Handicap Lady II title to her impressive list of accomplishments.  Sandy broke a 98 to tie with Carolyn Vaughn of KY and after the shoot off Sandy was the Grand American Handicap Lady II Champion adding to her already Lady II Runnerups in Event #8 The Gipson Ricketts Handicap and Event #11 The Krieghoff 100 Handicap claiming both of those through shootoffs as well, with such great shooting Sandy earned the ATA S

Hampshire County's Robert Judy First West Virginian to Trophy @ 2014 Grand American

Four West Virginia shooters participated in the first day's events at the Grand American Trapshoot in Sparta, IL. Kinzy Smith, Lonnie and Sandy Spencer all well Known to the trapshooting community. Kinzy started his trapshooting career in 1965 and the Spencers started theirs in 1976, but it was Robert Judy who started shooting in 2013, staying after the Aim Competition earlier in the week where he trophied in 3 events, fired a 96 in Event #2 The Trap & Field Handicap to tie with 3 others for the top spot in the 18 - 21 yard group.

WV Shooters @ the Buckeye

Several WV shooters made their presence known last week at the Buckeye Classic Championship. A total of 1323 shooters from 21 states with 30 of the shooters from WV competed in the 8th annual championship. Robert Harden and five others tied with 97's in event 4, the Fishburn Handicap, after 75 extra in the shoot off Harden was 3rd. Event 9 Joel Etchen Class Doubles 2014 WV Hall of Fame Inductee Gary Holmes was the B Class winner, breaking 97. Junior Gold All American Alec Sauble broke 199 in the Browning Championship Singles for Class A Runner up honors....

This picture taken before Adam Cline (left) and Doug Damron took the shootoff line in Friday's Handicap Event at the Dogwood Open in Bostic,NC. Adam nugged out Doug for 4th . Adam went on to crush 98 to win Sunday's Handicap Championship.

Doug Damron and Scott Ross Win at Florida State Shoot Updated!

  2013 WV State Singles and State Handicap Veteran Champion Doug Damron from Huntington, WV was the top Veteran in the Florida State Shoot Tuesdays Preliminary Singles blasting a 99, Wednesday Doug posted another 99 in singles plus carryovers for the win in the Veteran Wednesdays Preliminary Singles. Damron also won Wednesdays Preliminary Doubles Veteran Trophy. Also spotted on the line was Scott Ross 2 time WV Singles Champion and WV HOF member and current Vice President of the WVATA.

Congratulations to Alec Sauble West Virginia's first Junior Gold All American !

Alec and his Dad, Todd, burst onto the trap scene in 2009, Alec has shot 13,800 singles, 12,700 Handicap and 9,500 doubles to date. The Sauble's live in Martinsburg, WV and frequently shoot in Pennsylvania. Their names can be found on top at West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia shoots.
